Capital Seafood- Arcadia: Dim Sum Visit #1

After a pretty good first impression on Capital Seafood , who touts itself as "Tradition Redefined", we decided to visit it full out during the weekend after a nice morning walk and picture taking at the Arboretum. Besides, everyone seems to be visiting the Capital Seafood-Arcadia: First Impressions page A LOT. It's already first on the list for Google's search engine, but that post didn't even have pictures of the food! This post will, as well as lots of plenty non-food photos. Should I put a smiley face or a frown face for that? It is up to you. :) (Your eyes are not tricking you: most of the people have been washed out with black paint) After parking, the first thing we were greeted by was a tree. If you look carefully, it's the same as the Hyatt plant I showed you in the last post . This tree is supposed to symbolize good things, and if you can read the Chinese characters it is wishing for Capital Seafood to prosper. This is usually what you see when a ne...

Phoenix Food Boutique- Arcadia: Meals and Late Night

Phoenix Food Boutique is not just a fast food style food and drink place, but also one that attracts quite a bit of customers at night for late night eating AKA "siew yeh". It attracts us for both reasons, but mainly now just for their sweet black sesame puree dessert soup. Online, their website states this type of Phoenix a place for quick casual dining "pan asian" style. I don't necessarily think of Phoenix Food Boutique "very pan asian" a la Woo in Las Vegas , but they are mostly modernized to fit the tastes of today's young generation. Inside Phoenix, it is all modern, sometimes even dark in some spots of the place. There are several coolers, offering desserts, beverages, and appetizers for to go. This is no full service restaurant. Instead, just sit down at an open table, and you'll get your menus shortly. Order at the counter or flag an employee. Instead of usual thick plastic soup spoons, you will get flimsy take out spoons if they are n...

Double Woo. Woo & Sam Woo BBQ

It's a cold day in Las Vegas. The wind is howling which reminds you of last year. When you leave your hotel, you see the nearby tree branches moving. Even the street signs are moving. And you are hungry. You have been pondering all afternoon on what to eat for dinner. Shall we use the Restaurant.com Rosemary's Restaurant certificate? Or shall we use our 2 $30 credit's at Palazzo's Woo? A family member speaks up about wanting to try some Pan-Asian food. After all, you did have some great experiences before at these types of restaurants, like Grand Wok in MGM Grand. And so, the choice is made for Christmas dinner. A quick phone call to ask about the credit as well as about Woo, and you have just reserved a table at Woo. 5:30PM. It's time for dinner. You have left your room which has given you comfort, as well as astounding views of Las Vegas from up from the top. After a quick search, Woo is found. It is dark looking restaurant- the lights are dim, and it is very mode...
