Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong 2010: Harbor and Peak Views

After such a busy week, it is always pleasant to sit down, relax, and look at the world around you. This week certainly has been one of them- universities have started to place out their results to eager senior students, Redondo Beach has a sardine clean-up to deal with, and Japan devastatingly has had a 8.9 magnitude earthquake. Here's hoping that Japan will recover quickly so that they can resume their daily lives again. With times like these, it would be great to grab a breather and just enjoy the world and what you have and simply reflect. This set of photos are a reflection of my Hong Kong trip in December. Three months later and with barely any progress on this series at all, I might be somewhat disappointed with my status on this series, but times are busy, and many people I can sympathize with right now. Relax and enjoy the pictures- I have enjoyed editing these pictures especially and I will let them speak more for themselves while I will provide you with some background...

Driving Scenes: CA-Las Vegas, Spring 2010

Spring Break. One week. What to do? Well, Las Vegas was the course. Palazzo and Venetian were offering free nights on some of the nights during Spring Break. Wynn had a special offer that came with a free night as well (via special email). At least 5 people who I knew were going on the same week. Las Vegas is after all, the inexpensive Californian vacation. Cheap room rates for what you get, and you don't need to fly (saving tons of money which can be spent on other things, like food). Even teachers said, "If I'm going anywhere, I'm going to Vegas. It's cheap!" Besides, why not go for complimentary rooms anyway? Too late. Booking on Sunday for a Tuesday departure? Crazy! It's what happens when there is work to be done first. Ahem...my trip to Hong Kong two years ago was booked less than 12 hours before departure, so we're not first-timers into the "procrastination" traveler zone. What we noticed already was that the rooms were filling up. And...

Happy New Year, and Musings on New Year Activities

If wishing you a happy new year via the sidebar and the Pelican Hill post was not enough, how about a real Happy New Year post? Welcoming in 2010 was quite different compared to last year. Last year, for me, was a major year of new things, new people, and learning opportunities. Going to a new school as well a summer college class, taking almost 8000 photos, running a blog, using Photoshop, and becoming a DE on Tripadvisor were all things I have never done before. It was also a year of inspirations. Summer brought in the inspiration to write and be more enthusiastic of what I did in life, leading to really different (in my opinion) ways of thinking. To the blog, it meant less quantity, more quality. More descriptions and thoughts. A "this was good" would not just do anymore for me. I don't even get why I was saying that back then earlier during the year, as I am a fanatic of elaborate descriptions. :) And October brought in photography and camera into the works. The year ...

Musings on a Year's Worth of Blogging

Who thought this day would happen, so fast? And thank goodness enough, I got better from the stomach flu. Lucky. At first I had all these plans, like reviewing my birthday cake for today, but being sick I never even forgot to finish editing the 50 photos of Pelican Hill STILL on Adobe Photoshop right now. RAM needs support. Anyway, the first blog post was posted on 9:22AM PST, and so I need to to finish exactly at that minute. :) I wish I had gifts. I could have given all of you 10 dollar Restaurant.com certificates but it would be via my personal email. Not such a great idea? Well, today I made the camera fall onto the carpet twice. Awful. At least CPK didn't screw up tonight's dinner like they did with my birthday. The server who previously was not our favorite was muy simpatico y amable (very nice and friendly), while our server during my birthday was our server today's opposite. So anyway, I thought I would give you my thoughts on a year's worth of blogging. New ex...
