Savoy Kitchen- Alhambra, CA

A famous restaurant for Hainan Chicken Rice, Savoy Kitchen is a very small restaurant on Valley Boulevard that draws large crowds. But it isn't merely an Asian restaurant, but rather it serves both Asian and Italian options--you'll find pizza, pasta, bread, curry, and other options.

Day 6: Peking Garden (Pacific Place)- Admiralty, Hong Kong

After a stroll in Hong Kong Park , we headed downstairs for a meal at Peking Garden in Pacific Place. We would have gone to Shang Place in Island Shangri-La (apparently where the mango and pomelo sago dessert was created), but since it was full, we headed towards Peking Garden, one of the two large Chinese restaurants in Pacific Place. Peking Garden, as the name may suggest, is famous for its Peking Duck; however, it does serve up a  plethora of fine Chinese food in an environment that Pacific Place says "resembles an ambiance of modern metropolitan America." It does certainly feel decidedly western; the crown moldings on the walls and comfortable chairs give a sophisticated, not tacky, Western feel. We were seated next to a wavy wood and glass wall that gives a modern touch to an otherwise classic environment.Yes, we could see the people in the elevators and vice versa, but this is undoubtedly a cool touch. Even the tea had a Western influence. The typical Chin...

Sesame Grill- Another Early Bird Visit.

Special deals are always a good reason to revisit a restaurant. And so, during a weekend which we got hungry earlier in the afternoon, we decided to visit Sesame Grill again for their Early Bird Specials, which they have been promoting for a while now. Want to see the menu again? Well, here it is: This time, the manager was also around and was very happy to see us as we constantly visit her place. She was exceedingly busy on that day, taking orders, offering suggestions, and more, and she still even managed to talk to us. The dining room was also pretty filled up, but still not as much as before. At least it wasn't empty; that would be pretty unfortunate! It was also fairly bright with the good sunshine. They didn't even need to light up the candles this time! Like usual, the meal started off with some of their freshly baked bread, which was warm, crispy on the bottom, and soft on the inside. Butter was served alongside. We dipped some of the bread in this: This was the "F...

California Pizza Kitchen's Frozen Thin Crust BBQ Chicken Pizza

If you don't know already, we like eating at California Pizza Kitchen. But how does one get to eat CPK products at home other than eating it in their restaurants or ordering take out? Well, the simple answer is frozen pizza. California Pizza Kitchen has been doing frozen pizzas for quite a while now, and now, they're available at Costco! Do you see the words "3 pack"? That's why. Normally you would just get one pizza if you were at your local supermarket for around $5 dollars. This product was a bit different as it touted the crispy thin crust version, but in BBQ chicken flavor (which is my favorite, but I haven't seen in in this variety before). For your information, the information of "special ingredients" on the top exactly says (yes, with the capitalization too), " Crispy thin pizza topped with White Chicken, BBQ Sauce, Smoked Gouda Cheese, Reduced Fat Mozzarella Cheese, Red Onions, and Cilantro." So, we baked it up, but NOT according t...

Sesame Grill- Early Bird Specials!

Ads can help in many different ways to an advertiser. And well, it lured us back again to Sesame Grill, a place which we mainly eat for lunch because of their lunch specials. We typically don't eat here at night (lunch is a way better deal because of the special), but there was something new that was up for offer, and we went for the very occasional dinner here again. At night, the feeling of the place is well, very different. More mood lighting is on, and the ambiance is darker. White cloths are added to the tables, and so are tea candles which are placed in a glass cup. A cloth napkin is also folded nicely on your plate at night. But what really brought us here for dinner? The Early Bird Special! It's actually a pretty good deal for the price, and depending on which choices you pick, it can be a very good deal, even when you compare it to the Lunch Specials. We picked choices 1, 2, and 3 along with 3 different appetizers. But, what always comes free with any meal is some fres...
