Happy 2011 & Second Year For The Blog!

Happy 2011! Sure, this post is a day late, but unlike some previous Decembers, 2010's December had two fun weeks of traveling in Asia- not only just 2000+ pictures taken and lots of places visited, but lots of things learned as well. Guess where I took this picture from! Click on the photo for the answer. :) I hope everyone has had a great 2010 and I hope that 2011 will be an even better year moving forward. 2010 saw some differences in the blog compared to 2009/2008, mainly an increase in traffic during the summer months and a new record in daily visits! (378) I can see now that there are some patterns: popular places and expensive places are quite well liked by visitors on this site. Some things do not change however. The year came to a end just as quickly as before, maybe even quicker. And my schedule has been becoming busier and busier, allowing me less time to write posts. I really appreciate your continuing readership in the past year, especially since during the past mo...

Happy New Year, and Musings on New Year Activities

If wishing you a happy new year via the sidebar and the Pelican Hill post was not enough, how about a real Happy New Year post? Welcoming in 2010 was quite different compared to last year. Last year, for me, was a major year of new things, new people, and learning opportunities. Going to a new school as well a summer college class, taking almost 8000 photos, running a blog, using Photoshop, and becoming a DE on Tripadvisor were all things I have never done before. It was also a year of inspirations. Summer brought in the inspiration to write and be more enthusiastic of what I did in life, leading to really different (in my opinion) ways of thinking. To the blog, it meant less quantity, more quality. More descriptions and thoughts. A "this was good" would not just do anymore for me. I don't even get why I was saying that back then earlier during the year, as I am a fanatic of elaborate descriptions. :) And October brought in photography and camera into the works. The year ...

About & FAQ

About the Author: Hi, I'm Wilson. I'm a student whose interest in traveling has developed since a young age. Through traveling I have acquired an interest in architecture, design, food, and photography; traveling has shaped a part of my life and is one of my great interests. About the Blog: Eat. Travel. Eat! is a blog primarily focused on traveling, food, and photography. It is the continuation of my online reviews from Tripadvisor, which started when I planned a vacation to Seattle. I enjoy informing people's decision processes,  and so Tripadvisor seemed like the perfect outlet to help readers pick places to eat, stay, or visit. I wrote on Tripadvisor for about two years as a member and forum participant until thoughts came to me to start a blog during 2008. Eat. Travel. Eat! came online on December 26, 2008.  See me at: Instagram Youtube Facebook Flickr Photobucket Zomato Tripadvisor The first real post went online on December 29, about Embassy Kitchen ...

Musings on a Year's Worth of Blogging

Who thought this day would happen, so fast? And thank goodness enough, I got better from the stomach flu. Lucky. At first I had all these plans, like reviewing my birthday cake for today, but being sick I never even forgot to finish editing the 50 photos of Pelican Hill STILL on Adobe Photoshop right now. RAM needs support. Anyway, the first blog post was posted on 9:22AM PST, and so I need to to finish exactly at that minute. :) I wish I had gifts. I could have given all of you 10 dollar Restaurant.com certificates but it would be via my personal email. Not such a great idea? Well, today I made the camera fall onto the carpet twice. Awful. At least CPK didn't screw up tonight's dinner like they did with my birthday. The server who previously was not our favorite was muy simpatico y amable (very nice and friendly), while our server during my birthday was our server today's opposite. So anyway, I thought I would give you my thoughts on a year's worth of blogging. New ex...

Honest Scrap!

Selba of Selby's Food Corner was very nice again to give me yet my third award, which is called "Honest Scrap". Hmm...I wonder what it means. So... without further ado... The rules of the award: Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design . Show the 7 winners names and links on your blog, and leave a comment informing them that they were prized with "Honest Scrap." Well, there's no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. Well, minimum of seven. Minimum. Then, I'll say anyone in my current blog list gets this award. Why else I would put your blog on my blogroll? Of course- all of you had something special, whether it be ease of use, content, design, photos, and more. So, all of my fellow bloggers on my blogroll get this award. :) The last part? List at least 10 honest things about yourself. So. Head whirls, thinking about what to say... 1. I like to collect dollar bills and coins that are special. Whether it be presidential ...

Sinbala Sausage Fried Rice

(Updated with new pictures and edited text on 27 September 2009) No, this is not the fried rice at Sinbala which is next to places like May Mei, Changs Garden, Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt, and Din Tai Fung. Instead, this was made by yours truly at home. As we usually buy some Sinbala sausage ($6.50USD for a prepackaged uncooked pack at the counter) and bring them home, this was a dish we could make with things in our pantry. Nothing special was needed other than the Sinbala sausage. As long as you have eggs, veggies, meat, and rice, any fried rice is easy to make! You see, the corn, peas, and sausage were all from the freezer, and everything else was in the pantry, except for the eggs and carrots which were in the fridge. Easy peasy for any family to do, but it takes some prep time. It's a good dish to make if you have lots of frozen veggies; just put it in there! As for preparation, cutting everything into small pieces allows for easy eating. This dish also became my experiment if ...

Seabass with Miso Paste

This is my first home cooking post :). Wasn't planning on doing this, but thought, why not? And so here it is. After eating at Woo during our trip to Las Vegas and trying the "Black Cod Miso", we wanted to try making this at home. Yesterday was the right day to make it. Going to the local 99 Ranch Supermarket yesterday, we found the seabass to be one dollar less than usual, and so it was a good time to get it. "Cut the steak into 2 pieces please", we said, and we got one that looks like the one above and a bigger one. This one was small, and so it was fit for us to eat. Shop shop shop. What is here, as you go about to check out. Ah, it's miso paste! For sale too. A big, giant, 2.2 pound tub of miso for 2.89, instead of 3.99. That's cheaper than most places. Ooh, and white and white/red miso available too! However, we were slightly hesitant. We looked at some of the other varieties of miso, but they cost much more (4-6 dollars). This miso though, was a g...

Starting Now

My first post! I'll start with some information about myself. I enjoy eating, cooking, and traveling in my daily life, and so this is why my title is Eat. Travel. Eat! You eat in your daily life, and when you also travel, you want to try out new foods, variations of food, and maybe different versions of what is available in your area, and so that interest in eating, for me at least, is why I put an exclamation mark at the ending. I'm part of a family of 4, and I am the one who likes to do all the trip planning, and also helping out with cooking, providing knowledge, and researching. I also have an interest in many other things such as products, architecture, airlines, cars, animation, and other things, and so there will be posts on those things as well. The main areas the blog will cover will be around Southern California, and other places when we travel. If you are interested in what I have already done about writing about food and family travels, I am also a member on Tripadv...
